Principal Chemist & Chemical Engineer Chemical Engineering

In this role you will support reactor plant chemistry with a focus on radiochemistry and radiochemistry equipment for Navy vessels and training ships. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to test and implement radiochemistry methods, while designing tests and qualifying hardware for deployed systems. You'll manage projects and respond to fleet technical needs, with opportunities to travel for installations and conferences. This position contributes to safe, reliable naval propulsion and hands-on training of Navy personnel.

• Resolve reactor plant chemistry issues and radiochemical analysis method/equipment issues
• Collaborate with engineers and scientists to test and implement radiochemistry methods and equipment
• Support deployed radiochemistry systems by designing tests, qualifying hardware, writing procedures, training operators, and responding to fleet requests
• Coordinate and manage all aspects of projects interfacing with internal and external organizations
• Travel limited for equipment installation, vendor meetings and conferences

• Bachelor/Master/Doctorate in a related field with years of experience as specified; or currently a specified senior engineer role
• 9 years (Bachelor path) / 7 years (Master path) / 3 years (Doctorate path) of relevant experience
• Experience with radiochemistry, analytical/inorganic chemistry, or gamma spectroscopy preferred
• Ability to work on multiple tasks and deliver timely results
• U.S. citizen with ability to obtain security clearance
• Willingness to travel for installations and meetings

• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
