Overview In this role you will lead Brex's Banking Operations function, directing a team responsible for money movement and core controls. You will coach analysts, set operating rhythms, and ensure timely, risk-aware decisions across multiple payment rails. You'll collaborate with Compliance, Legal, Product, Engineering, and external banking partners to scale processes and controls. You'll champion AI-enabled improvements to speed, quality, and governance while maintaining audit-ready documentation. This is a high-impact role at the heart of Brex's mission to move money securely and efficiently.

Responsibilities- Lead Banking Operations analysts, setting priorities, coaching performance, and fostering accountability.
- Oversee payment monitoring across Fedwire, SWIFT, ACH, checks, and stablecoins; manage alerts, exceptions, and escalations with risk-based decisions.
- Build scalable frameworks for onboarding, QA, escalation management, and coverage as the business grows.
- Advance AI-native goals by identifying high-impact use cases and enabling AI adoption across the team.
- Partner with Compliance, Legal, Product, Engineering, and external banking partners to strengthen controls and support new workflows.
- Drive continuous improvement by root-cause analysis, procedure refinement, and automation to boost throughput without compromising control.
- Translate frontline insights into leadership reports, surfacing trends, risks, and gaps for Banking Operations strategy.
Key requirements- 5+ years in US banking operations, payments operations, compliance operations, or related regulated environment.
- 2+ years in people management with a track record of coaching and building accountable teams.
- Working knowledge of high-risk money movement workflows and payment rails (wires, ACH, checks, SWIFT, etc.).
- Practical fluency with AI tools (Claude, Hex, Granola, Glean) and using AI to improve team effectiveness and scale.
- Strong judgment for risk assessment, escalation decisions, and audit-ready documentation.
- Experience partnering cross-functionally with Compliance, Legal, Product, Engineering, Treasury, Finance, or external banking partners.
- Clear written and verbal communication, ability to simplify complexity for leadership.
