Overview In this SALT-focused role, you will advise clients on state and local tax implications aligned with business objectives and recommend compliant, efficient paths. You'll work closely with Core Tax Partners to deliver SALT expertise while marketing and developing new business in your area of specialization. You'll identify policy changes and translate them into actionable tax strategies and compliance actions. The role blends technical SALT work with client relationship management and engagement leadership, at a firm that values collaboration and growth.

Responsibilities- Research complex SALT issues and outline the issue and sources
- Review tax returns to identify major SALT issues and draft responses to notices
- Provide SALT consulting, draft memoranda and opinions, and develop tax planning processes
- Represent clients in SALT controversy, settlements, and audit representations
- Utilize GoSystems and tax research databases for tasks
- Develop and improve tax strategies and consultative selling approaches
- Supervise SALT staff on engagements and ensure training on tax software
- Assist in project engagement management and client expectations management
- Support with tax provisions and ASC 740-10 compliance
- Develop new ideas to reduce taxes or enhance client value through non-tax benefits
- Support marketing efforts for new client acquisition
- Perform other duties as required
Key requirements- Four (4) years of SALT or related experience
- Bachelor's degree required; focus in business preferred
- CPA or relevant certification preferred
- Prior experience supervising tax professionals on a project basis
- Experience with tax provisions and corporate taxation, consolidations, and partnerships preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) and familiar with tax software
