Senior Construction Manager

Overview

As a field-focused leader, you oversee contract administration and on-site coordination for large, complex programs. You act as the primary liaison among the client, company personnel, and contractors to address issues and keep projects on schedule and within budget. You supervise staff, manage submittals, change orders, and cost control, and drive implementation of HNTB's delivery frameworks on mega projects. You'll work with cross-functional teams to win pursuits and deliver safe, quality infrastructure at scale.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee field contract administration and coordination on diverse, complex programs
  • Supervise assigned staff and ensure contractor activities align with design specs and contract requirements
  • Serve as on-site liaison among client, company personnel, and contractor for issue resolution
  • Lead project scope development, fee proposals, and technical contract preparations under SCA
  • Monitor progress against schedules; prepare daily and summary inspection reports
  • Review submittals for conformance to plans; negotiate with contractors to align with schedule
  • Oversee project controls including scheduling and cost management; enforce quality control
  • Develop strategies with contractors to align submittals with schedules; manage change orders and cost estimates
  • Lead project management plan development and execution; mentor project team
  • Support business development with client relationship-building and pursuit activities for mega projects
  • Recruitment, development, and retention of construction staff; succession planning
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or relevant field and 12 years of experience
  • Or 16 years of relevant experience in lieu of education
  • Experience leading large multi-discipline teams on complex projects
  • Strong experience with contracts, change management, and cost control
  • Proficiency with project delivery frameworks (SDA/SCA) and proposal development
