Overview

In this Tax Associate role, you will support tax compliance, planning, and client advisory services for a professional services firm. You will prepare federal, state, and local returns, conduct tax research, and assist with planning engagements to deliver accurate, timely solutions. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to consider tax implications in client offerings and help ensure audit readiness. Your work will shape tax strategies for diverse clients while mentoring junior staff and driving process improvements. This role offers the chance to contribute to compliance excellence and practical tax advice at scale.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and review federal, state, local returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and fiduciaries
  • Conduct tax research and provide clear recommendations
  • Assist in tax planning, including projection modeling and entity structuring analysis
  • Communicate with clients to gather information and explain tax positions
  • Collaborate with product, sales, and advisory teams on tax implications of offerings
  • Ensure compliance with tax laws and firm policies; maintain organized workpapers; support audit readiness
  • Mentor and review junior staff; share technical guidance and best practices
  • Participate in process improvement and leverage technology to improve efficiency and accuracy of tax workflows
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Masters in Tax or Accounting is a plus
  • CPA license preferred; active CPA or progress toward CPA strongly desired
  • 14 years of public accounting or professional tax experience preparing returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and fiduciaries
  • Strong technical knowledge of federal, state and local tax rules and tax research tools
  • Proficiency with tax software (Lacerte, UltraTax, Drake); QuickBooks; advanced Excel skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to interact with clients and cross-functional teams
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and time-management skills with high attention to detail
