Overview In this role you contribute to hydropower and dam projects within a leading design firm's energy practice in Southern California. You will tackle diverse water resources tasks on domestic and international clients, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to advance feasibility, design, and construction support. The work blends engineering analysis, modeling, and field coordination to deliver safe, efficient hydropower and dam solutions. You'll grow through mentoring others and engaging in knowledge-sharing across projects, with opportunities to travel and work hybrid schedules.

Responsibilities- Perform civil, hydrologic, and hydraulic analyses and modeling for dam, hydroelectric, and energy projects (incl. dam breach, intake and spillway design)
- Conduct hydrologic/hydraulic modeling using HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS (1D/2D), LifeSim, FLO2D
- Prepare designs via sketches, models, diagrams; develop drawings and specifications for hydraulic structures
- Support feasibility studies through research and solution development
- Produce technical reports, computation packages, and design documentation
- Provide construction-phase engineering support and site coordination
- Participate in Construction QA/QC, including shop drawings review and RFI responses
- Promote safe work practices and adhere to company guidelines
- Lead, coordinate, and own tasks from initiation to completion within multi-disciplinary teams
- Develop familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry standards
- Attend project coordination meetings with internal and external stakeholders
- Implement QC/QA processes for deliverables; mentor less experienced staff
- Develop client management and business development skills, including proposal preparation

- Travel to project sites as needed
Key requirements- Working knowledge of civil/hydrologic and hydraulics engineering
- Familiarity with CAD/CAM and spatial analysis tools (Civil3D and/or ArcGIS)
- Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Strong verbal and written English communication; detail-oriented
- Ability to coordinate across multi-disciplinary teams
- Willingness to travel for construction oversight
