Overview You will design HV/EHV transmission line systems (overhead and underground) for large utilities, applying standards and delivering complete design packages. You'll work within a multi-person Leidos team and interface with clients, planning, environmental, permitting and construction personnel. The role emphasizes solving complex transmission challenges, from new capacity to infrastructure replacement, with opportunities to lead by example and mentor others. Responsibilities- Review and design transmission line projects using PLS-CADD models and related plans
- Apply NESC, ASCE, ACI, AISC and other standards to designs and specifications
- Prepare bidding documents, plans, specifications, procurement, and construction packages
- Develop project scopes, budgets, and proposals
- Coordinate with clients and project teams across planning, environmental, permitting and construction management
- Support or lead project teams, including junior staff, and provide mentorship
- Travel 10-15% and work with cross-functional teams to deliver projects
Key requirements- Bachelor in Civil or Mechanical Engineering
- 4+ years (Mid-Senior) or 8+ years (Lead) of relevant transmission design experience
- Experience reviewing full transmission line designs including PLS-CADD, foundations, materials, plan & profiles, construction packages
- Knowledge of NESC, ACI, AISC, ASCE requirements; construction specs; procurement; scheduling; and construction work packages
- Proven client communication skills and ability to work in teams
- Ability to work independently and in a team
- Travel up to 10-15%
