Landfill Operations Manager, Landfill

In this role you will oversee day-to-day landfill operations to ensure safety, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence. You will work with cross-functional teams to optimize permitting, leachate and gas management, and truck throughput while controlling costs. You will lead staffing, training, and performance, and ensure timely reporting and budget alignment. This position supports WM's mission to zero safety and environmental incidents and requires collaboration with community stakeholders. You will drive continuous improvement in safety, efficiency, and reliability to support sustainable waste management.

• manage day-to-day landfill operations and ongoing construction and permitting
• oversee leachate and gas management and safety compliance
• minimize costs while maximizing productivity and safety
• reduce truck turnaround times and accurately track waste volume/weight
• liaise with community stakeholders and monitor permitting issues
• ensure adherence to WM's Mission to Zero and regulatory standards
• participate in budget processes and financial reviews
• supervise hiring, coaching, training, and performance evaluations
• ensure maintenance and cleanliness of site via inspections and preventive programs
• conduct safety meetings and provide training/presentations
• prepare and submit required reports in a timely manner

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
• High School Diploma or GED with 4 years relevant experience
• 7 years relevant work experience in addition to education requirement
• ability to manage personnel, budget, safety, and regulatory compliance
