Overview

In this Transit Group role, you will lead track and civil design for rail projects across Maryland and the Mid-Atlantic, acting as an owners representative to ensure safe, buildable and sustainable infrastructure. You'll mentor engineers, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and drive projects from scope definition to delivery. This is a visible technical leadership position with exposure to complex rail facilities and client interactions. You will shape rail solutions that improve mobility and reliability in the region.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee owners representative duties and design delivery for projects
  • Define scope, objectives, and technical requirements with clients and internal teams for rail projects
  • Lead track and civil design for railway infrastructure including stations, bridges, tunnels
  • Provide guidance to meet safety, accessibility, environmental, and rail operation standards
  • Develop mitigation strategies to meet quality, schedule, and budget goals
  • Support construction through RFIs, shop drawing reviews, and coordination with contractors
  • Apply QA/QC to deliver coordinated, constructible outputs
  • Monitor progress and identify opportunities to improve delivery efficiency
  • Prepare technical deliverables aligned with STV and client standards
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a collaborative, high-performing team
  • Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive railway engineering experience
  • Experience with rail and civil design tools (MicroStation, InRail, OpenRail, AutoCAD, Civil 3D)
  • Knowledge of railway standards/regulations (AREMA, CPUC, AAR, FRA)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and multidisciplinary collaboration
  • Clear written and verbal communication abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
