Overview As a Principal Process Engineer, you drive advanced process design for complex projects in Houston, collaborating with clients, vendors and internal teams to deliver compliant, cost-efficient solutions. You lead multi-discipline design packages, oversee scope, schedule and budgets, and ensure adherence to HSSE and industry standards. You actively engage with clients and suppliers to optimize performance and risk management, shaping project outcomes and repeat business opportunities. This role offers impact across engineering design, vendor coordination, and field assessments within a trusted, safety-focused environment.
Responsibilities- Prepare advanced specifications detailing performance requirements, design codes, and vendor drawing needs
- Develop engineering sketches, perform calculations, and build analysis models for complex projects
- Review/approve vendor drawings for compliance with project specs
- Coordinate with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and consultants
- Ensure projects meet schedule and budget, following quality and safety standards
- Visit job-sites and vendor facilities to assess conditions and compliance
- Prepare inquiries, purchase requisitions, and bid tabulations for equipment
- Lead or participate in conceptual and detailed engineering design packages
- Develop internal design guidelines and design control procedures
- Assess feasibility, costs, and timelines using engineering methods and advanced math
- Manage workload, budgets, and project resources; forecast man-hours and TCI
- Mentor co-workers and provide technical guidance to the team
- Provide feedback on performance and potential disciplinary issues
- Serve as Engineer in Responsible Charge with PE sealing compliance
- Risk assessment and mitigation planning for projects
- Lead large scope multi-discipline projects and manage day-to-day workflow
- Support development of reports, schedules, and construction plans
Key requirements- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
- PE License
- Field experience
- Industry experience
- Minimum of 15 years of experience (preferred)
- ABET-accredited degree preferred
- Chemical Engineering degree preferred
- HYSYS or ProMax experience preferred
- P&ID development knowledge preferred
- Experience with API codes and process design standards preferred
- Strong client relationship management and communication skills
