Overview As Associate Director Cost Manager, you drive cost management for major California construction programs and capital projects. You will lead a cost management team, manage client and consultant relationships, and ensure delivery across the project lifecycle. You will shape cost strategy, reporting, and risk management while promoting Turner & Townsend's values. Responsibilities- Lead a cost management team to deliver on accountabilities
- Interface with client, stakeholders, and consultants at all project stages
- Perform quantity surveying, cost controls and change management throughout the lifecycle
- Coordinate reporting on commercial status and maintain coordination within construction processes
- Drive best practice and identify improvements to cost procedures, templates and tools
- Oversee cost management and project controls services across sectors
- Mentor and develop talent; conduct staff performance reviews and set team strategy
- Utilize internal software for tracking margins, forecasts, KPIs and management controls
- Ensure compliance with financial policies, SOX controls where applicable
- Contribute to AI-enabled cost modeling and data-driven cost intelligence platforms
- Collaborate with clients to align scope, cost, and delivery strategy
- Prepare proposals and RFP responses; maintain knowledge management and internal databases
- Represent the office in audits and external certification processes
- Develop and maintain cost models for rapid estimating and scenario analysis
- Monitor project costs, manage risks and escalate issues as needed
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying, engineering or related field
- Minimum 8 years of relevant cost management experience in construction
- Construction consultancy experience strongly preferred
- SME in Quantity Surveying and RICS certified or equivalent
- Excellent presentation, verbal, written, organizational, and communication skills
