Overview

In this role you will contribute to aStructures Group in Boston, delivering efficient, innovative structural solutions for buildings, transit, and heavy construction projects. You will work closely with project teams to design, review, and document structural systems using BIM collaboration. The position emphasizes collaboration with clients and multidisciplinary offices to meet budgets and schedules while advancing sustainability and safety. This is a hands-on engineering role with meaningful impact on complex facilities and infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate with the Project Manager on structural design projects
  • Review designs prepared by others
  • Perform structural designs, drawings, and write technical specifications
  • Develop concise structural drawings and documentations
  • Design using materials including steel, concrete, light-gauge metal, masonry; wood framing is a plus
  • Use Ram Structural System, Ram Concept, STAAD, Mathcad, TEDDS, and related software
  • Coordinate with multiple offices and disciplines positively
  • Conduct field inspections of facilities and transit-related structures
  • Analyze existing structures for retrofits/rehabilitations
  • Develop gravity and lateral systems for various facilities
  • Validate construction estimates
  • Engage with stakeholders verbally and in writing
  • Attend construction phase meetings and site visits
  • Coordinate with clients on construction activities and schedule impact
  • Manage design budgets for assigned tasks
  • Meet tight deadlines
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • PE (Structural) or SE license
  • 8-10 years of structural design experience for buildings
  • Clear, concise written and oral communication
  • Ability to foster positive relationships with public agencies, architects, engineers, permits/inspections departments, and staff
  • Understanding of cost control and schedule management
  • Experience with public/municipal building designs and transportation structures in Massachusetts
  • Knowledge of MA Public Procurement Laws and MA Building Code
