Overview As an experienced Water Resources Engineer at RES, you will lead technical design and plan development for stream, wetland, and stormwater restoration projects, guiding cross-functional teams from concept through construction. You'll apply advanced design and modeling skills to deliver permittable, field-tested solutions that make a measurable environmental impact. Collaborating with engineers, scientists, and project managers, you'll mentor junior staff and engage regulators to shape successful project outcomes. This role offers hands-on field work, design leadership, and opportunities to drive restoration at scale.
Responsibilities- Lead technical design and plan development for stream, wetland, and stormwater restoration projects
- Review survey data and develop hydrologic/hydraulic models (HEC-RAS, TR-55)
- Create grading plans in Civil 3D and coordinate with permitting specialists and project managers
- Produce high-quality plan sets and conduct QA/QC reviews
- Coordinate with clients and regulatory agencies to support approvals
- Conduct site assessments and support QA/QC during construction to ensure plans are followed
- Lead design work with minimal oversight and mentor junior engineers
- Support multi-disciplinary team coordination across disciplines
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in civil, environmental, or ecological engineering
- PE license in the appropriate state
- 5+ years of professional experience in restoration, stormwater, or site development
- Advanced capability in stream, wetland, or stormwater management design (feasibility studies, concept design, restoration plans)
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and modeling tools (HEC-RAS, FlowMaster, TR-55, GIS, MicroStation)
- Strong understanding of stream geomorphology, hydraulics, sediment transport, and/or stormwater BMP design
- Ability to communicate directly with clients and regulatory agencies
- Comfort leading design work with minimal oversight and supporting QA/QC in the field
