Overview As Mechanical Engineering Manager, you lead a team designing, developing, and launching complex surgical products for the GI Robot Platform. You translate customer needs into compelling product architectures and guide cross-functional collaboration to deliver value for patients, surgeons, and hospitals. You'll shape a high-performing team, manage priorities, and ensure design rigor and regulatory compliance. This role offers meaningful impact at a global leader transforming robotic-assisted surgery.

Responsibilities- Provide vision for the mechanical engineering team and foster creative execution.
- Develop and validate product architectures in collaboration with senior management and customers.
- Define product pillars and business goals; prioritize to align with development strategy.
- Develop deep understanding of external customer needs to ensure patient-, surgeon-, and hospital-focused designs.
- Communicate technical design details effectively with surgeons and customers.
- Create high-level technical presentations for leadership on goals, status, and risks.
- Set group and individual objectives aligned with overall product development goals.
- Assign tasks, monitor progress, and establish metrics for team performance.
- Support engineers in developing functional specifications and risk documents.
- Review designs in formal and informal settings; mentor and coach team members.
- Recruit, retain, and develop mechanical engineers; manage performance and career growth.
- Maintain SOPs and design guidelines; ensure FDA-compliant design history files and design reviews.
- Coordinate with Product Marketing, Legal, Clinical Engineering, Test Engineering, Manufacturing, and other groups to drive progress.
- Foster cross-functional relationships to facilitate design transfer and manufacturing readiness.
- Provide administrative leadership for planning, staffing, budgeting, and cost tracking.
Key requirements- Eight+ years of mechanical design experience
- Minimum 2 years of people management experience
- Minimum 5 years of taking products from concept to production
- Minimum BS in Mechanical Engineering (MS/PhD preferred)

- CAD proficiency (SolidWorks preferred)
