Ocean Marine Senior Underwriter, Account Executive Director

In this role you drive profitability and growth for a high-complexity Ocean Marine book. You will partner with agents, brokers, and internal stakeholders to shape coverage and cross-sell opportunities within a challenging market. You assess and negotiate the most complex risks, balancing risk appetite with profitable growth. You are a technical resource and mentor, elevating underwriting across the region. This is a client- and team-facing position at a leading insurer that values deep expertise and collaboration.

• Manage profitability, growth, and retention for a high-complexity book of business
• Underwrite and negotiate complex customer accounts to minimize risk and maximize profitability
• Build and maintain internal cross-functional relationships to develop sales plans and identify cross-selling opportunities
• Maintain external relationships with agents and brokers through regular in-person meetings to market and write new and renewal accounts
• Identify and capture new business opportunities using consultative marketing and sales skills
• Develop and execute agency sales plans, in collaboration with the Managing Director to shape regional sales strategy
• Provide coaching and strategic underwriting guidance across the team
• Perform other duties as assigned

• Bachelor's degree
• Eight to ten years of relevant underwriting experience in commercial lines
• Expert knowledge of Ocean Marine products, regulatory environment, and local insurance market
• Strong critical thinking and decision-making aligned with risk appetite
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills
• CPCU designation
• Five years of underwriting experience (must have) and willingness to travel
