Overview In this role, you will drive research on grid-edge technology to advance the distribution grid. You will lead demonstrations and build a program around smart grid innovations, collaborating with partners across Southern Company and the broader power industry. You'll evaluate advanced monitoring, power-flow controllers, inverters, and other converters to identify real-world applications and impact. You'll operate within a small, agile team, translating concepts into deployment-ready solutions that support grid reliability and sustainability.

Responsibilities- Lead pioneering research in power electronics grid applications to improve efficiency, reliability, and flexibility
- Create and manage a strategic program for grid-edge technology development and deployment
- Plan and track projects to ensure timely delivery of innovative solutions
- Explore emerging technologies and identify transformative opportunities for the grid
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute strategic research projects and deliver impactful outcomes
Key requirements- Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering
- 3+ years of experience in Power Delivery
- Understanding of power quality phenomena (flicker, harmonics, voltage sags)
- Experience in project management and cross-functional collaboration
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations in the electric utility sector
- Strong oral and written communication skills for diverse stakeholders
