Overview

In this role you will lead profitability, growth, and retention for a construction-focused book of business, while guiding a small team of Account Executives. You will underwrite and negotiate complex construction risk, partnering with agents, brokers, and internal teams to drive results. You'll identify cross-selling opportunities and shape sales plans to align with Travelers' risk appetite. This is a hands-on, relationship-driven role in a collaborative, growth-focused environment with meaningful impact in construction insurance.

Responsibilities
  • Manage profitability, growth, and retention of an assigned book of business; lead a small team of Account Executives
  • Underwrite and negotiate complex customer accounts to minimize risk and maximize profitability
  • Cultivate internal partnerships to create sales plans and identify cross-selling opportunities
  • Maintain external relationships with agents and brokers through regular meetings to market and write new and retained business
  • Identify and capture new business opportunities using consultative sales skills
  • Develop and execute agency and region/group sales plans with the Managing Director
  • Coach, train, and manage performance of assigned team
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree; six to eight years of underwriting experience in construction risk or oil and gas
  • Deep knowledge of construction risk or oil and gas products, regulatory environment, and local market
  • Strong critical thinking and decision-making aligned with risk appetite
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills with agents/brokers
  • Experience leading others is a plus
  • CPCU designation
  • Must have four years of underwriting, claim, operations, risk assessment, actuarial, sales, product, or finance experience.
