Overview As a Senior Accountant in Sunoco LP's fast-growing Midstream Operational Accounting team, you will analyze financials for terminal locations, including inventory, margins, and operating expenses. You will investigate variances and complex transactions with internal and external customers, and assist with purchase accounting and integration for mergers and acquisitions. You will prepare technical journal entries, support SOX controls, and help drive process improvements and audits. You will work cross-functionally to ensure policy alignment and professional service, contributing to Sunoco's midstream leadership and growth.
Responsibilities- Assist with financial analysis of midstream terminal locations (inventory, margin, operating expenses)
- Research accounting variances, disputes, and complex transactions with internal and external customers
- Assist with purchase accounting and integration on mergers and acquisitions
- Compile and prepare intermediate to high-level journal entries to general ledger accounts
- Assist management with ad hoc projects and process improvements
- Ensure compliance with SOX controls and apply financial policies
- Perform audit tasks and other duties/projects assigned by management
- Represent company interests with professionalism and customer-focused service
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree and 8 years of related experience
- Prior fuel inventory and general ledger accounting experience preferred
- Strong experience in SAP S/4 FIORI/Winshuttle
- Experience with Right Angle preferred
- IFRS and US GAAP preferred
- Strong analytic and data analysis skills, especially MS Excel
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
- Flexible, adaptable, and with a high level of initiative
