Overview

In this role you will cultivate and manage relationships with nephrologists and kidney clinics across a multi-city Michigan territory. You will develop a strategic plan, convey disease and product knowledge, and navigate the payer landscape to improve patient access. You will work with cross-functional teams to address territory-specific dynamics and drive performance. You will be part of Vertex's mission to advance patient care in rare kidney diseases through scientific innovation and market leadership. Responsibilities
  • Establish and nurture relationships with nephrologists and related healthcare professionals; manage territory accounts for specialty kidney clinics
  • Build expertise on disease state and product attributes; educate HCPs on appropriate patient selection
  • Analyze territory dynamics, stakeholder maps, decision-makers, referral networks, access, and payer drivers/barriers
  • Deliver individual and team performance, collaborate cross-functionally to meet goals
  • Attend meetings, participate in projects, and execute management-directed duties
  • Apply sound judgment and comply with regulatory, compliance, and company policies
Key requirements
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and strong interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to convey complex clinical information and handle a matrixed environment
  • Proactive, customer-oriented, with a strong work ethic and passion for patient care
  • Experience in sales or account management within pharmaceutical/biotech sectors
  • Knowledge of disease centers of care and payer landscape; proven sales success
  • Bachelor's degree; 5 years field sales experience in pharma and kidney/rare diseases preferred
  • Willingness to travel up to 80% and work after hours; valid driver's license
