Overview In this role you will establish and lead a high-performing operational accounting center of excellence, driving accuracy, governance, and continuous improvement in cash and suspense processes. You will collaborate with Finance, Risk, Internal Controls, and Operations to ensure complete and compliant accounting outcomes. You'll monitor aging, exposure, and reconciliation quality, identifying gaps and leading remediation. You will develop financial reports and models to support forecasting and performance analysis. Responsibilities- Establish and lead an operational accounting center of excellence for consistent execution and continuous improvement
- Ensure integrity and completeness of accounting data with emphasis on cash activity and reconciliation quality
- Monitor cash and suspense reconciliations, aging, exposure, and remediation progress
- Identify operational gaps and control weaknesses from suspense and reconciliation data
- Review analyses and propose recommendations to senior management
- Collaborate with Operations, Finance, Risk, Internal Controls to strengthen controls and align with enterprise standards
- Apply technical accounting concepts across multiple bases of accounting
- Develop financial reports and complex models for forecasting and results analysis
- Lead adherence to internal control framework and manage staff performance and development
- Align staff goals and priorities with business risk reduction objectives
- Contribute to organizational strategy and policy while managing risks
- Develop departmental strategic direction and manage the budget
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in accounting
- 12+ years of experience in insurance accounting or related financial services
- Experience leading suspense cleanup, reconciliation improvement, aging reduction, exposure management, or related operational remediation
- Demonstrated management/leadership experience
- Extensive knowledge of applicable accounting and business areas
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to lead a large group to achieve goals
