Overview

As Mechanical Design Engineering Manager, you lead a team of engineers designing advanced mechanical and opto-mechanical subsystems for semiconductor inspection and metrology equipment. You steer complex product development programs from concept to manufacturing release, balancing performance, cost, and schedule. You partner with cross-functional leaders to drive technical strategies and deliver reliable, high-precision systems. This is a hands-on, impact-driven role in a fast-paced, innovation-focused environment.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and development of complex mechanical and opto-mechanical subsystems for semiconductor capital equipment
  • Guide teams through full product development cycles: requirements, concept, architecture, detailed design, analysis, prototype, integration, validation, and manufacturing release
  • Ensure successful design reviews and drive Design-for-X (DfX) for manufacturability, reliability, serviceability, cost, quality, and performance
  • Collaborate with Program Managers and Engineering Leaders to execute multi-disciplinary development programs
  • Manage resources, schedules, budgets, priorities, and technical risks; ensure timely milestones and product releases
  • Lead cross-functional teams to resolve complex issues and achieve program objectives
  • Set clear goals and development plans for engineers; build organizational capability through recruiting, coaching, succession planning
  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement; propagate engineering best practices
Key requirements
  • Semiconductor inspection/metrology/lithography or advanced manufacturing experience
  • Pro/E/Creo, SolidWorks or equivalent CAD tools
  • Experience with machining, sheet metal fabrication, welding, and castings
  • Strong fundamentals in mechanical engineering, materials, and fabrication methods
  • Experience with opto-mechanical systems, vacuum systems, motion control, FEA and simulation tools, GD&T, tolerance analysis
  • Strong written and verbal communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to adapt in a fast-paced semiconductor environment
