Overview As Sr. Project Engineering Manager, you lead capital project engineering and management across all lifecycle stages, from design through startup and closure. You'll support scoping, design, procurement, construction, and commissioning, providing discipline engineering across sites as needed. You'll drive safety, budgeting, and compliance, influencing project outcomes and aligning with plant goals. This role combines technical leadership with cross-functional coordination to deliver safe, cost-effective capital investments.
Responsibilities- Oversee capital project execution from scope to closeout within safety and regulatory guidelines
- Provide discipline engineering support to manufacturing and during turnarounds
- Develop and review lock-out/tag-out plans and participate in safety audits
- Manage multiple capital investments, including budgeting, risk assessments, and AR approvals
- Coordinate with site personnel, vendors, and contractors to optimize resources
- Ensure QA/QC for capital installations and maintain project documentation
- Prepare bid packages, RFPs, and work orders for construction
- Forecast and control capital expenditures and monitor progress against AR commitments
- Mentor junior project engineers and contribute to strategic planning and Six Sigma initiatives
- Maintain drawings, specifications, and program records for managed projects
- Interface with site controllers and engineering groups to deliver proven designs
Key requirements- Bachelor in Engineering
- Six Sigma Greenbelt/Black Belt or equivalent
- PMP certification desired
- 12+ years in engineering roles related to petro/chemical plants
- Working knowledge of industrial HSE practices and petro/chemical codes
- Strong communication, analytical, and leadership skills
- Proficient Microsoft Office
- Ability to manage non-electrical capital projects and project controls (estimating, scheduling, cost control)
