Process Engineer - Plastics Blow Molding

Overview

In this role you drive process optimization and equipment enhancements for plastic blow molding in a multi-site environment. You'll apply mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and PLC knowledge to troubleshoot, upgrade, and standardize processes, reducing waste and costs. You'll train operators, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and lead improvement programs across plants. The position offers travel to Baytown and Lavonia with a base location in Alsip, IL and emphasizes safety, quality, and cost-efficiency.

Responsibilities
  • Promote productivity and quality improvements using lean methods (Kaizen, VSM) and OPEX alignment
  • Specify and source equipment/controls, evaluating productivity, cost, and safety impacts
  • Perform process optimization trials and root-cause analysis to reduce variability, waste, and costs
  • Lead training of operators and leaders on standard production execution and safety
  • Develop and maintain SOCs for major equipment and manage CPE program audits
  • Collaborate with Reliability, Quality, and other engineering teams to deploy VQS and testing for new products
  • Support documentation, reporting, and continuous improvement projects (A3) across plants
  • Replicate best practices and ensure consistent processes across sites
  • Travel to cover IBC plants and support cross-site initiatives
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • 5+ years direct plastic blow molding experience with troubleshooting and optimization skills
  • Strong mechanical skills with knowledge of electrical, pneumatics, hydraulics, and PLCs
  • Ability to troubleshoot maintenance issues and optimize cycle times
  • Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement experience
  • Knowledge of plastics materials, manufacturing processes, and equipment operations
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities
