You align BSW strategy with portfolio needs and collaborate with HWIO, integration, validation, and application teams to support MSP-driven ECU platforms. You'll shape reusable platform solutions and drive quality, safety, and cybersecurity across programs. Responsibilities- Lead and develop a team of BSW engineers with clear goals and growth opportunities
- Foster an inclusive, psychologically safe culture with ownership and continuous learning
- Set priorities and decision criteria balancing platform investments and program commitments
- Provide service-oriented leadership to enable partner teams and accelerate delivery
- Own delivery strategy for GMBSW areas aligned to MSP priorities and ECU roadmaps
- Define and evolve reusable BSW solutions across domains and generations
- Drive technical direction for HWIO/MCAL/RTOS, communications, cyber, diagnostics, memory/data services, programming/boot, RTE, safety, and core system services
- Ensure modular, maintainable, production-ready solutions designed for reuse over one-off customization
- Coordinate with portfolio, architecture, HWIO, integration, validation, and application teams to align delivery with platform needs
- Assess fit for new platform needs, identify gaps, and shape pragmatic plans for reuse and ownership boundaries
- Clarify interfaces and responsibilities across MSP, suppliers, and partner organizations
- Balance roadmap work with support for active initiatives and new builds
- Ensure reliability, deterministic behavior, security, safety, and maintainability of BSW products
- Drive engineering practices for verification, defect management, and root-cause resolution
- Establish quality gates and readiness criteria for foundational software used across programs
- Make timely trade-off decisions on scope, risk, quality, and delivery timing
- Drive continuous improvement in BSW development, configuration, automation, and release workflows
- Improve reuse, standardization, and scalability of GMBSW solutions across MSP
- Capture and scale best practices and contribute to long-term BSW strategy
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in related technical field
- 8+ years in automotive or embedded software development, preferably platform/infrastructure/basic software
- AUTOSAR-based systems and foundational ECU software experience
- Proven experience leading technical teams and cross-functional software efforts
- Ability to set direction, prioritize work, and deliver on commitments
- Strong understanding of embedded software architecture and hardware abstraction
- Experience with build, configuration, release, and lifecycle management for reusable platform software
- One systems-level programming language (C or C++) with scripting/automation familiarity
- Ability to analyze complex technical issues and resolve blockers across organizations
