Overview In this role you provide corporate finance legal support for Oaktree's Global Private Debt strategy, collaborating with deal teams, outside counsel, and senior officers. You negotiate and close portfolio company investments, draft and review loan documents, and oversee life-cycle items from initial docs to amendments. You mentor junior lawyers and help implement firm-wide procedures, while coordinating with Operations, Accounting, and Tax. You contribute to market research on private credit and cross-border transactions, shaping execution in a high stakes, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities- Provide corporate finance legal advice and support, coordinating with outside counsel and investment professionals
- Negotiate and execute portfolio company investments within credit-based strategies
- Prepare, review, and negotiate loan documentation (financing grids, term sheets, credit agreements, etc.)
- Negotiate amendments and post-closing deliverables throughout the investment life cycle
- Mentor and later manage junior members of the legal team
- Assist with closing investments in collaboration with Operations, Accounting and Tax
- Research market trends in private credit, secondary markets, and cross-border transactions
- Participate in cross-departmental initiatives to design firm-wide procedures
- Supervise counterparty KYC collection for Global Private Debt deals as needed
- Provide support on other transactional matters and special projects
Key requirements- 7+ years of legal experience at a top 100 law firm with emphasis on finance and experience with sponsor/non-sponsor lending and syndicated facilities
- Expert knowledge of financing grids, credit agreements, security agreements, term sheets, letters of intent, commitment papers, and related documents
- Exceptional writing, drafting and communication skills
- Proven ability to manage and train junior personnel
- Strong analytical and project management capabilities, with ability to stay composed under deadlines
- Experience with cross-border transactions and English-law facilities; asset management and funds exposure is a plus
