Overview In this role you lead software development for vehicle management systems on advanced aircraft. You will drive cross-functional collaboration across Skunk Works and Aeronautics programs, balancing rapid prototyping with durable software deliverables. You shape technology roadmaps, mentor engineers, and manage program performance, scope, and schedules. This leadership position combines hands-on software expertise with people leadership in a high-velocity, mission-driven environment at Palmdale.

Responsibilities- Oversee workforce management, including assignments, recruitment, and promotions
- Lead personnel development, training, and performance management
- Collaborate across programs, business units, and industry to advance tech roadmaps
- Communicate with all levels from engineers to executives; resolve conflicts and build collaboration
- Support pursuit and management of internal and customer technology roadmaps
- Interface with partners to transition new technologies into programs
- Apply Agile software development practices; monitor cost and schedule drivers
- Direct software development activities and ensure adherence to standards during the lifecycle
Key requirements- Bachelor's Degree in STEM
- Experience in software/Systems engineering, architecture, integration/testing or related field
- Project/Program Management experience
- Technical leadership with multi-location team guidance
- Avionics knowledge: communication, navigation, autopilot, air data, displays
- Experience defining/tracking tasks, schedule, and budget
- Avionics architecture experience with Mil-Std-1553 and Ethernet
- Experience working with multiple Integrated Product Teams
- Agile team management experience
- Strong written and verbal communication
- US Citizen; active DoD Secret clearance (ability to obtain Top Secret with SAP/SAR)
