Overview In this Senior Counsel role, you independently manage a caseload of high-exposure and complex litigation for insured clients and the company. You will mentor junior attorneys, collaborate with cross-functional partners, and shape case strategy from inception to resolution. You contribute to our national legal organization with local client focus, delivering strong outcomes and trusted advice. Responsibilities- Manage a portfolio of high-exposure and complex litigation matters, including Major Case and Complex Claim matters as appropriate
- Apply advanced litigation techniques to try cases to verdict or negotiate resolutions
- Conduct extensive legal research and draft substantive pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery documents
- Attend court events, depositions, and hearings independently
- Provide strategic case analysis and recommendations to insured clients and claims partners
- Collaborate with experts and consultants to develop case strategies and testimony
- Build and maintain relationships with clients and business partners; mentor junior attorneys and support staff
- Provide internal/external training and legal updates; initiate special projects to support office goals
- Leverage technology and case management systems; travel as needed
- Drive cross-functional coordination and contribute to office-wide initiatives
Key requirements- 7+ years of insurance defense litigation experience
- Proven track record in jury trials and favorable courtroom outcomes
- Strong ability to communicate complex information to diverse audiences
- Advanced oral and written advocacy skills; success in summary judgment and appellate matters
- In-depth knowledge of bench and local jurisdictional practices; strong professional network
- Excellent leadership, mentoring, negotiation, and decision-making abilities
- Active license to practice law in the required state(s)
- Regularly handles hearings, trials, dispositive motions, and depositions; willingness to travel
- Juris Doctorate (or equivalent) and graduate of an accredited law school
