Overview

As Supernal's System Engineering & Integration Engineer, you coordinate engineering execution, system architecture, and certification alignment with FAA standards throughout aircraft development. You act as the integration focal point, ensuring consistency across sizing, architecture, and verification. You support readiness for FAA Part 21 Applicant responsibilities, reviewing milestones and mitigating integration risks. You will work with cross-functional teams to maintain safety, performance, and certification goals. This role offers impact on vehicle-level integration within a mission to advance safe, scalable AAM solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Assess engineering processes against FAA-recognized standards and identify gaps for certification readiness
  • Lead transfer of engineering systems and certification governance to maintain configuration and compliance control
  • Review architectures, designs, and major decisions from an integration, safety, and certification perspective
  • Ensure sizing, margins, performance allocations, and safety budgets are coherent at the vehicle level
  • Evaluate trade studies and interface definitions to align with performance, safety, and compliance targets
  • Monitor cross-functional interfaces to prevent architectural inconsistencies
  • Develop SE/SEP documents and provide technical concurrence at major milestones (SRR, PDR, CDR, etc.)
  • Identify and escalate integration, safety, and certification risks within delegated authority
  • Ensure outputs (requirements, verification artifacts, and records) align with FAA Part 21 obligations and certification strategy
Key requirements
  • 15+ years of experience in aircraft systems engineering and integration
  • Strong knowledge of ARP4754A and ARP4761
  • Extensive use of DAL A-E, DO-178C, and DO-254 in certified programs
  • Solid understanding of FAA 14 CFR Part 21
  • Experience supporting certification programs and regulatory engagement
  • Experience with requirements management and configuration control tools (e.g., DOORS, 3DX)
  • Familiarity with MBSE methodologies and modeling tools
