Overview You ensure reliable lab results and uphold quality standards. In this role you support instrument calibration, QC, and accurate interpretation of data, while troubleshooting and maintaining equipment. You will work with the laboratory information system, ensure regulatory compliance, and contribute to patient safety and satisfaction initiatives. You collaborate across teams to meet core measures and VBP targets, using AIDET and effective communication to support compassionate care.
Responsibilities- Validate test results and determine specimen rejection criteria
- Apply quality control concepts and calibrate/standardize instruments
- Interpret QC data and make informed decisions
- Troubleshoot instruments and perform routine preventive maintenance
- Operate and understand the laboratory computer system for orders, reports, and downtime procedures
- Comply with laws and regulations applicable to the laboratory
- Participate in training of new employees
- Communicate effectively with staff and supervisors; adhere to privacy and confidentiality policies
- Support unit and hospital initiatives to improve HCAHPS scores and meet VBP goals
- Use AIDET in patient interactions across settings
- Maintain accountability for achieving core measures, HCAHPS, and VBP goals
- Promote compliance with the Code of Conduct and organizational policies
Key requirements- Bachelor's Degree in laboratory technology or related field
- One year hospital laboratory experience
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience collaborating with physicians and other clinicians
- Ability to work in a union environment
- California Clinical Laboratory Scientist license
- Fire Card
- ARC (Assault Response Competency) within 30 days of employment
