Overview In this Civil Engineer role, you'll design civil site work for Mission Critical Data Center projects within Stantec's Community Development Group. You'll collaborate with a cross-regional team to deliver site design, entitlements, and construction documents for major commercial programs serving high-profile clients. You'll tackle varied project scopes-from due diligence to permitting and construction-while supporting standard development of civil systems. Responsibilities- Collaborate within a cross-functional team to design civil site layouts, grading, and utility systems for mission critical projects
- Lead and participate in project coordination meetings with internal and external stakeholders
- Assist in scope, budget, staffing, and schedule management for projects
- Prepare and revise site plans, grading plans, utility plans, diagrams, and construction details
- Evaluate and specify civil systems and products, and develop designs via sketches and 3D models
- Coordinate with AHJ and manage planning/land use entitlement processes
- Conduct constructability reviews and perform QA/QC on own work
- Develop and maintain design documents and standards for the civil group
- Support cost estimation, value analysis, and basic client requirements gathering
- Coordinate with project partners and vendors to ensure timely delivery of drawings and specifications
- Utilize software tools to perform calculations and create digital models (3D and 2D)
- Engage in field observations and oversee aspects of construction activities as needed
- Adapt to dynamic project needs and remote, multi-region coordination
- Contribute to development of new civil standards and specifications
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- Licensed Professional Engineer or ability to obtain within 6 months
- Minimum 5 years of experience
- Strong understanding of civil engineering concepts (site layout, grading, utilities)
- Proficient in AutoCAD Civil3D and design software; ability to run calculations with company tools
- Excellent time-management, communication, and teamwork skills
- Experience with data center or mission critical projects is a plus
- Knowledge of National Civil Code and energy codes
