Design Integration Manager (Mechanical)

Overview

In this role you will lead the mechanical design integration across design-build, EPC, and CM/at-risk projects, guiding HVAC, plumbing, and piping design to maximize client value within budget and schedule. You'll collaborate across development, estimating, operations, and BIM/VDC teams to ensure constructability and timely delivery. You'll drive design accountability, manage change, and support pursuit efforts with a focus on safety, quality, and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities
  • Organize and lead the design team across owner, designers, estimating, and operations/construction during the design phase
  • Define design delivery scope and sequencing with early release packages
  • Establish design information management systems and communication protocols
  • Drive design schedules and participate in regular design team and OAC meetings
  • Manage change logs for cost and schedule impact during design
  • Oversee risk related to scope creep and constructability, drive value engineering
  • Maintain RFP compliance to verify alignment with owner requirements
  • Provide program validation for building systems and equipment supports
  • Collaborate with Estimating to review cost trends and keep projects within budget
  • Lead designers to adjust designs to meet construction budget
  • Assist with screening trades and reviewing bids
  • Collaborate with VDC to implement project BIM plan
  • Support operations through design changes and issue resolution during construction
  • Develop design integration tools, templates, and best practices
  • Serve as SME for mechanical scopes and conduct peer/constructability reviews
  • Support pre-proposal and pursuit phases with capture strategy and client presentations
  • On DB/EPC projects, solicit and evaluate design consultants and participate in contract negotiations
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 10+ years in HVAC, plumbing, piping and process design
  • Experience on design-build projects
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure preferred
  • LEED AP or DBIA certification a plus
