Overview In this Audit Director role, you will lead state and local government engagements, coordinating multiple audits and accounting projects while directing staffing and workflow. You will act as a liaison among partners, clients, and staff to maintain strong client service and meet deliverables. You will mentor staff, contribute to business development, and help grow the firm's public sector practice. This position offers a partnership track and a hybrid work setup, with relocation assistance available.

Responsibilities- Maintain ongoing client contact and develop deep knowledge of client operations and controls
- Lead or report to engagement partner on engagements, ensuring deliverables align with accounting framework and firm policy
- Monitor and communicate important client developments, identifying issues and implementing solutions
- Oversee engagement scheduling and resource allocation
- Serve as subject matter expert in governmental sector and related audits
- Ensure proper billing and collection practices by engagement teams
- Supervise and train staff, review work papers, and participate in performance evaluations
- Involved in recruitment and interviewing for Assurance and Advisory roles
- Represent the firm in business development efforts and lead initial client communications and fee proposals
- Maintain compliance with firm-wide policies and procedures
Key requirements- Approximately 10 years in public accounting
- Minimum 2 years in a senior manager position
- Significant experience in public sector audits (state and local governments)
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
- Current and valid CPA license
- Ability to travel to client and firm locations
- Proven ability to develop new business for a CPA firm
- Experience auditing under GAAP/GAAS and GAGAS (Yellow Book) and Uniform Guidance
- Ability to direct, review, and train staff
