Overview

In this role you drive quality and production readiness for complex quantum hardware. You collaborate across R&D, engineering, supply chain and manufacturing to shape robust quality systems and processes. You will tackle technically challenging problems, lead quality workstreams, and mentor teammates, delivering measurable improvements in manufacturability, testability, and reliability. This position offers hands-on influence across design reviews, production, and supplier interactions in a fast-moving quantum technology company.

Responsibilities
  • Own quality activities for complex mechanical, electrical, optical, opto-mechanical, vacuum, cryogenic and photonics hardware from development to production
  • Develop and improve QMS processes, records, and audit evidence supporting configuration control and traceability
  • Translate drawings and system requirements into inspection plans, acceptance criteria, control plans, and evidence of conformity
  • Collaborate with design and manufacturing during design reviews and hardware releases to improve manufacturability, inspectability, testability, reliability, and traceability
  • Provide hands-on support for receiving, in-process, first article, prototype builds, integration, test, and production troubleshooting
  • Lead investigations of nonconforming hardware using containment, MRB, root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions, and effectiveness verification
  • Apply risk-based quality methods (FMEA, control plans, inspection sampling, MSA, mistake-proofing)
  • Analyze yield, defects, escapes, rework, reliability, and process-capability data to identify risk and prioritize improvements
  • Work with suppliers and material management to define quality requirements and improve incoming quality to ensure readiness of hardware
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree minimum
  • 5+ years in quality, manufacturing, product, or reliability engineering for complex hardware
  • U.S. Person status required (citizen, permanent resident, or eligible asylum/refugee); not a PRC or Russian national unless also a U.S. citizen
  • Six Sigma Black Belt Certification
  • Experience with nonconformance management, MRB, root cause analysis, and corrective actions for hardware/manufacturing processes
  • Experience across hardware lifecycle stages (development, qualification/verification, production release, sustaining improvements)
  • Experience interpreting drawings, specifications, tolerances, and GD&T for inspection/acceptance methods
  • Hands-on experience with precision mechanical assemblies, electronics, optics, lasers, photonics, vacuum systems, cryogenic systems, or similar complex equipment
  • Data-driven quality/decision making and communication of technical recommendations
