Overview As a Bridge Design Engineer in Stantec's New York City office, you join a Bridges and Structures team to support complex infrastructure projects. You will contribute to design and analysis of bridges, interchanges, and public spaces, under the guidance of a Senior Bridge Engineer. The role involves delivering AASHTO-based designs and collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams. You'll impact transportation networks and urban life through safe, innovative structures. Responsibilities- Perform detailed structural analyses and load rating per AASHTO LRFD and local codes
- Create design deliverables including criteria, plans, specs, quantities and calculations
- Prepare and review steel/concrete design calculations, take-offs, cost estimates and reports
- Supervise and mentor junior engineers and CAD designers
- Lead development of design and construction documents per NYSDOT and local standards
- Resolve complex technical issues and exercise independent judgment
- Review show drawings, supplier submittals, RFIs and field changes
- Support design-build pursuits with technical concepts
- Coordinate with highway, traffic, geotechnical disciplines
Key requirements- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in NY and/or NJ or ability to obtain
- 5-10 years of bridge and structural design experience
- Proficiency in CSI Bridge, LARSA 4D, LEAP Bridge Design or similar
- Experience with Microstation, AutoCAD, OpenBridge, Autodesk Construction Cloud
- Knowledge of bridge design codes and local jurisdiction requirements
- Strong problem-solving, communication skills
- Experience with NYSDOT/NYCDOT/MTA/PANYNJ or similar agencies is preferred
- Demonstrated ability to deliver multi-span steel and concrete bridges
