Overview In this role you guide the Cost Engine team to deliver reliable, scalable healthcare cost, eligibility, and benefit data services. You will balance hands-on coding with people leadership to grow a high-performing team. You'll collaborate with product, architecture, and scrum stakeholders to ship impact-driven software. The role emphasizes modernization, observability, and AI-enabled productivity within a fast-moving, hybrid environment.

Responsibilities- Directly manage, coach, and develop engineers through regular 1:1s and growth conversations
- Own hiring, promotions, and performance decisions for your team
- Set technical direction with architecture and foster an environment for high-quality work
- Write and review production code in .NET 8 REST APIs and C# services; hands-on role
- Maintain engineering standards for code quality, testing, and observability
- Tackle complex technical work including architecture decisions and migrations
- Collaborate with Scrum Master to run agile ceremonies and ensure predictable delivery
- Translate roadmap into sequenced, well-scoped engineering work and manage dependencies
- Balance run-vs-change and maintain security and reliability while advancing the roadmap
- Guide modernization: service boundaries, ETL modernization in Rust, better observability, and deprecation of legacy endpoints
- Contribute to long-term platform health and leverage AI to boost productivity
- Communicate progress, risks, and decisions to leadership and cross-functional partners
- Partner with Product Manager to deliver transparent, reliable software
Key requirements- 8+ years of software engineering experience with hands-on coding
- People leadership experience with coaching and development responsibilities
- Deep experience in C# / .NET building and operating production REST APIs and backend services
- Experience with relational data stores (SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL) and AWS cloud services
- Comfort in Agile environments with sprints and PI planning; collaboration with Scrum Masters and Product Managers
- Ability to lead across hybrid legacy and modern codebases and manage run-vs-change with security and reliability commitments
