Overview In this role, you will lead the development and expansion of Carter's licensing program to extend brand equity across new products, channels, and geographies. You'll balance brand stewardship with revenue growth, partnering with merchandising, design, marketing, and supply chain to scale both DTC and wholesale lines. You'll own the strategic direction, financials, and partner ecosystem to deliver measurable impact for the family shopper. This is a high-impact role at a consumer brands leader focused on growth, distinction, and responsible expansion.
Responsibilities- Create and execute a multi-year licensing strategy aligned with brand and business goals
- Identify and prioritize new licensing opportunities across product categories, channels, and global markets
- Set revenue targets, royalty structures, and financial forecasts for the licensing portfolio
- Evaluate partnerships to enhance brand equity while driving incremental revenue
- Monitor market trends and consumer insights to spot opportunities and risks
- Conduct periodic business reviews with licensees to optimize performance
- Own the P&L for licensing including revenue, margins, and expenses
- Ensure licensee compliance with royalties, audits, and contractual obligations
- Ensure licensed products meet brand positioning, quality standards, and regulatory requirements
- Lead cross-functional alignment to support licensing initiatives and category growth
- Identify, negotiate, and onboard licensing partners; manage ongoing partner relationships
- Negotiate key contract terms (royalties, minimum guarantees, advances, distribution rights)
Key requirements- 12-15+ years in consumer products, licensing, brand management, or retail with progression to program-level leadership and P&L ownership
- Proven track record scaling a licensing/brand-extension program
- Experience with consumer/lifestyle brands; apparel/children's products a strong plus
- Exposure to both brand-owner and licensee/agency sides of licensing
- Experience across wholesale and DTC (retail + eCommerce); international expansion preferred
- Proven people leadership in a complex, matrixed organization
- Bachelor's degree; MBA or equivalent commercial depth preferred
