Overview

As a Harness Design Engineer on the Starshield team, you own satellite harness design from concept through flight, coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure reliable electrical connectivity. You will shape warship-level avionics interconnections, harness layouts, and production-ready drawings in a high-performance, space-focused context. The role offers exposure to vehicle architecture and systems integration, with a strong emphasis on reliability, mass optimization, and manufacturability. This is a mission-driven opportunity to contribute to secure space capabilities at scale.

Responsibilities
  • Own harness design outcomes across design, integration, test, production, launch, and in-orbit operations
  • Architect harness capabilities including power, network connectivity, fault tolerance, and configuration management
  • Create detailed electrical schematics to realize architecture
  • Develop 3D electro-mechanical harness designs in NX CAD and communicate design intent to manufacturing
  • Contribute to physical layout to optimize size, weight, power and ease of assembly
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, RF, EMI teams to capture requirements and trade-offs
  • Perform analysis and physical testing of harnesses for thermal, loads, and vibration across lifecycle
  • Manage product delivery timelines from concept to launch
  • Lead R&D and trade studies to push harness design boundaries in reliability, mass, and cost
  • Demonstrate ownership of product outcomes throughout development and production
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, or other engineering discipline
  • Experience with electro-mechanical wire harness design or manufacturing
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication
  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams and manage stakeholders
  • Proficiency with Siemens NX CAD
  • Schematic or wiring diagram definition, 3D modeling of top-level assemblies
  • Experience with harness design under complex requirements or environmental conditions
