Overview As a Mechanical Engineer at SmithGroup, you will design and document HVAC systems for healthcare, labs and other critical spaces, and lead project coordination with designers and junior staff. You will analyze projects, generate technical reports, and review submittals and site observations to ensure quality and compliance. You'll develop design concepts, prepare presentations, and mentor teammates while collaborating with cross-functional groups. Responsibilities- Design, analyze and document HVAC systems and controls
- Perform system assessments and prepare technical reports
- Review submittals, RFIs and contractor change orders; conduct site observations
- Coordinate work of mechanical designers and junior staff
- Assist with construction site visits and punch lists on behalf of the owner
- Create planning and design concepts for projects
- Prepare presentation drawings and assist in internal/external presentations
- Mentor and train junior staff
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum 7 years of related experience in HVAC, plumbing and special systems for healthcare, research labs, higher education or similar building types
- PE required
- LEED AP preferred
- Proficiency with Revit, Trane TRACE 700 and MS Office
