Overview In this role you lead Brex's Banking Operations team in NYC, owning money movement and risk controls. You will coach analysts, design scalable processes, and partner with Compliance, Legal, Product, Engineering, and banking partners to enable fast, accurate, and compliant payment workflows. You'll drive AI-enabled improvements to speed and quality while maintaining strong controls. This is a high-impact, builder role at the heart of Brex's platform, shaping how money moves across rails and products.

Responsibilities- Lead Banking Operations analysts, set priorities, coach performance, and foster accountability with strong documentation standards.
- Oversee payment monitoring across Fedwire, SWIFT, ACH, checks, and stablecoins; manage alerts, exceptions, and escalations with risk-based decisions.
- Create scalable onboarding, QA, escalation management, and coverage plans to support growth.
- Drive AI-native initiatives by identifying high-impact use cases and adopting tools/workflows to improve speed, quality, and control.
- Collaborate with Compliance, Legal, Product, Engineering, Treasury, Finance, and external banking partners to strengthen controls and support operational readiness for new workflows or product changes.
- Lead continuous improvement by identifying root causes, refining procedures, and advancing automation without sacrificing control quality.
- Translate frontline insights into reporting and recommendations for leadership, surfacing trends, risks, and process gaps.
Key requirements- 5+ years in US banking operations, payments operations, compliance operations, or related financial services function
- 2+ years of people management experience
- Knowledge of high-risk money movement workflows and payment rails (wires, ACH, checks, SWIFT) or similar monitoring environments
- Practical fluency with AI tools (e.g., Claude, Hex, Granola, Glean) and ability to apply AI to improve team effectiveness and operational scale
- Strong judgment for risk assessment, escalation decisions, and audit-ready documentation
- Experience partnering cross-functionally with Compliance, Legal, Product, Engineering, Treasury, Finance, or external banking partners
- Clear written and verbal communication to translate complexity into guidance and leadership-ready updates
