Overview

As Archaeologist PI/Project Manager, you will lead cultural resources projects in the Pacific Northwest, guiding field crews and expanding archaeology services. You will manage scope, schedule, and budget while coordinating with clients, agencies, and Tribal representatives. You'll supervise staff, develop proposals, and ensure compliance with NHPA, NEPA, and other cultural resources regulations. This role offers hands-on field leadership, strategic project development, and cross functional collaboration to advance environmental planning and cultural resource goals. The position combines fieldwork, report writing, and client-facing management in a mission-driven, growth-oriented firm.

Responsibilities
  • Lead cultural resources projects and field teams to deliver archaeology studies
  • Develop proposals with scope, schedule, and budget; lead strategy
  • Coordinate with clients and colleagues for regional work development
  • Assist in invoicing, staff management, and budget tracking
  • Serve as lead/PI for field surveys, monitoring, data recovery, and reporting
  • Coordinate project mobilization/demobilization and ensure quality products
  • Support NHPA Sections 106/110 and project permitting for diverse clients
  • Mentor junior staff and supervise cultural resources personnel
  • Meet project scope, schedule, and budget obligations
  • Implement independent and quality review processes to ensure high-quality outputs
Key requirements
  • Master's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology or related field
  • Five years of supervisory experience; ten years in cultural resources roles preferred
  • Proficiency with GPS technology and ability to use it remotely
  • Ability to meet deadlines, stay organized, and handle multiple tasks
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and problem solving skills
  • Experience in project planning, development, and management
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • MS Office proficiency; strong interpersonal skills
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record
