MEP Preconstruction Manager - Mission Critical

Overview

In this role you will lead MEP preconstruction for data center projects, focusing on estimating, design decisions, and trade partner procurement. You'll work within McCarthy's Mission Critical unit to shape proposals and win strategies. You will engage with design teams, clients, and subcontractors to ensure thorough, accurate estimates and compelling proposals. The role offers the chance to influence project scope and supplier partnerships at an early stage.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and review bid documents, submit bids and estimates timely
  • Create complete quantity take-offs to support estimates
  • Assist with execution plans and win strategies
  • Develop thorough, annotated estimates and comprehensive proposals
  • Manage subcontractor and vendor solicitation during preconstruction
  • Participate in peer bid and contract reviews for compliance
  • Provide weekly bid status updates at estimating meetings
  • Support project managers with estimate-related questions
  • Cultivate client relationships and help BD build new opportunities
  • Participate in design meetings and provide input for Design-Assist or Design-Build
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture or Construction Management or 5-10 years experience in estimating/design/field management
  • Experience in Mechanical (HVAC/Plumbing) and/or Electrical preconstruction with MEP Contractor or GC
  • 3+ years of experience in Mission Critical projects
  • Strong knowledge of construction principles and practices
  • Proven experience estimating mechanical, electrical, and low voltage systems
  • Experience with MS Excel, On-Screen Take-Off, Bluebeam Studio, Accubid, Revizto, WinEst preferred
  • Experience dealing with subcontracts and subcontractors
  • Self-starter with ability to build trust and influence others
  • Strong communication skills with varied audiences
  • Ability to perform mechanical quantity take-offs from OPRs, BODs, SLDs and architectural plans
