Tax Strategist

Overview

In this role you apply accounting and tax expertise to analyze financial data, prepare tax and financial statements, and ensure regulatory compliance. You will support audits, guide peers, and drive continuous improvement while maintaining strong client relationships. You'll stay current with federal and state tax laws and help clients minimize tax liability through planning and credits. This position sits at the intersection of tax compliance, financial reporting, and client service within a high-performing, learning-focused culture.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare tax statements, financial statements, and BAS statements at required intervals
  • Prepare business income tax returns and statements for audits
  • Manage tax administration for assigned accounts including tax research, return preparation, and planning
  • Identify opportunities to minimize tax liability through deductions and credits
  • Engage with clients regularly and maintain strong relationships
  • Stay current with federal and state tax laws, regulations, and planning techniques
  • Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end analysis of accounts for assigned lines of business
  • Validate accuracy of data from subsystems and interfaces; resolve issues
  • Provide guidance to Associate Tax Strategists as needed
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 3+ years of individual tax return experience, including at least 1 year preparing business/entity returns and 2 years of accounting experience
  • Working knowledge of GAAP and tax regulations
  • Proficiency with accounting systems, bookkeeping software, spreadsheets, databases, and financial technology tools
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with a client-service mindset
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, organization, and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Completion of tax knowledge assessments and related courses, with ability to work independently and deliver projects on time
