Overview In this role you will steer regulatory accounting and compliance for Crescent's upstream oil and gas operations, focusing on royalty and severance tax accounting, escheat processing, audits, and internal controls. You will partner with land, operations, and finance to ensure accurate reporting and timely regulatory filings in a fast-paced environment. You'll lead a small team, drive process improvements, and manage regulatory changes that impact GAAP, SEC expectations, and state frameworks. Responsibilities- Regulatory compliance for upstream accounting, GAAP/SEC reporting and state frameworks
- Lead royalty and severance tax accounting and filings, including ownership-related matters
- Lead unclaimed property escheat compliance with due diligence and reporting
- Serve as primary contact for audit requests; prepare schedules and documentation
- Develop and enhance internal controls over financial reporting and regulatory compliance
- Identify regulatory risks and implement corrective actions
- Contribute to policy and process improvements for consistency and efficiency
- Collaborate cross-functionally with land, operations, engineering, and finance teams
- Supervise and develop accounting staff; foster a high-performing team environment
Key requirements- 5-8+ years in accounting/finance in upstream oil and gas
- Strong knowledge of regulatory reporting, royalty accounting, escheat and severance tax accounting
- 2-5+ years supervisory or leadership experience
- Advanced Excel and MS Office proficiency
- Experience with a major ERP system; SAP preferred
