Overview In this role you will develop mechanical and motion-control solutions for advanced radar systems, working with a cross-functional team to shepherd designs from concept through manufacturing. You'll lead mechanical development of actuators, geartrains, and machine elements, applying first-principles analysis to solve complex system problems. You will influence design reviews, support prototype builds, and drive reliability and manufacturability in a mission-driven environment.

Responsibilities- Develop mechanical design solutions for mechanism and machine design challenges in radar systems
- Design and analyze motion control actuation systems, including custom actuators and geartrains
- Perform kinematic, dynamic, and first-order structural and thermal analyses
- Support full design lifecycle: requirements, trade studies, material selection, GD&T application
- Create 3D models, drawings, tolerance analyses, and manufacturing documentation
- Collaborate with manufacturing and test teams for prototypes and verification
- Lead mechanical development efforts balancing performance, schedule, cost, and risk
- Engage with multi-disciplinary teams to resolve complex design challenges
- Provide technical leadership with minimal oversight
Key requirements- Degree in STEM and 8+ years of experience or advanced degree with 5+ years experience
- Experience with mechanical design for military, aerospace, or commercial applications
- Experience with actuation drive systems, gear trains, bearings, and related components
- Experience with mechanism synthesis and analysis, requirements and trade studies
- Proficiency in GD&T and 3D CAD tools (CREO/Pro/E) and FEA (ANSYS)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Advanced degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Aerospace Engineering (preferred)
