Overview As a senior member of RSM's Washington National Tax AMP team, you will lead and apply accounting methods expertise to advise on tax positions and regulatory developments. You will sign off on technical positions and guide the delivery of high quality client service across revenue, expense recognition, inventory, capitalization, and cost recovery. You'll shape internal offerings, contribute to thought leadership, and collaborate with cross functional teams to identify market opportunities. Responsibilities- Sign off on general technical positions and quality review of Forms 3115, 1128, 970
- Consult on and sign off on technical issues related to revenue/expense recognition, inventory, capitalization, and cost recovery
- Lead development and oversee research on opinions, technical memos, or similar guidance
- Review IRS/Treasury guidance and new legislation; assign guidance for write-up and identify market opportunities
- Lead development of internal service offerings and go-to-market/execution materials
- Partner with AMP specialists to highlight growth opportunities for clients/prospective clients
- Develop and contribute thought leadership to external publications (Tax Notes, Bloomberg)
- Participate actively in accounting methods groups (e.g., AICPA, ABA)
- Lead/develop a subject matter expertise area in accounting methods and periods (e.g., financial instruments, international planning, inventory)
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field; CPA license in state of practice/eligible to sit (or equivalent: Enrolled Agent/Attorney)
- Minimum eight years in public accounting with track record in practice building and project management
- Proven tax planning experience including cost segregation, depreciation, and repairs & maintenance analyses
- Ability to travel to office and client sites as needed
- Strong written/verbal communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure, and lead teams toward goals
