Overview

As an Avionics Mechanical Engineer for Terran R, you design and deliver mechanical and electro-mechanical systems that support avionics hardware. You tackle thermal, structural, and packaging challenges to ensure flight-worthy reliability in harsh space environments. You will iterate from first principles, perform analysis and testing, and work cross-functionally to bring flight-ready systems to life. This role offers hands-on problem solving and the chance to shape a high-profile launcher at pace. You will be at the core of turning ambitious plans into tangible, operational hardware.

Responsibilities
  • Own design, analysis, development, and delivery of electro-mechanical avionics systems
  • Design enclosures, electrical interfaces, and thermal accommodations integrated with launch vehicle systems
  • Ensure hardware survivability in launch and space environments
  • Address thermal and structural challenges with mass-efficient packaging
  • Iterate designs from concept through qualification and flight
  • Conduct analysis and testing to validate performance
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to deliver flight-ready avionics
  • Hands-on lab work: build, test, and debug hardware
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
  • 3+ years in mechanical design, packaging, and thermal management for aerospace or ruggedized electronics
  • Proven track record delivering mechanical systems from concept to flight
  • Proficiency with CAD (SolidWorks, NX, or equivalent) and structural/thermal analysis tools
  • Hands-on experience building, testing, and debugging hardware in a lab
