Overview In this role you drive PSM compliance and HSSE performance for a 24/7 plant, partnering with operations and management. You lead regulatory interfaces, audits, and emergency planning, shaping site-wide safety programs and learning. You analyze incidents and trends to identify improvements and share learnings across HSSE. You coach and influence site leadership to maintain compliance and safety excellence. Responsibilities- Lead PSM compliance elements: training, contractor safety, critical work permits, employee participation, and emergency planning and response
- Support PSM elements: PHA, MOC, incident investigation, compliance audits, and pre-startup safety reviews
- Analyze results to trend data and identify improvement opportunities
- Own incident trend analysis and share learning across the facility
- Influence operations, maintenance, and facility leadership to improve HSSE performance
- Interface with regulators for visits, requests, and submissions with support from Area Managers
- Lead internal and external audits and support site leadership
- Monitor regulatory changes and recommend updates to HSSE management systems
- Lead and contribute to incident investigations and disseminate learnings
- Support Plant Manager in regulatory compliance including emission monitoring, waste management, and permits (DPCC, SPCC, SPPP, Title V, MCUA)
- Design and maintain Emergency Response Program and Plan
- Ensure secure work environment and compliant site security system
- Manage HSSE documentation, data collection, posting, training, and KPI reporting
- Pursue and prioritize Responsible Care certification improvements
- Perform other duties as assigned
Key requirements- Bachelor in Chemical Engineering
- Ability to build relationships with regulators and prior supervisory experience
- 5 to 10 years of HSSE experience in the chemical industry
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and RC 14001 preferred
- Knowledge of occupational safety, environmental, security and waste handling requirements
- Knowledge of NJ laws and regulations strongly desired
- Ability to implement HSSE programs aligned with corporate initiatives
