Assistant Regional Underwriting Manager, PL/Cyber, Midwest Financial Lines

Overview

In this role you will support the Professional and Cyber Liability underwriting team by leading a regional book and developing a team of underwriters. You will balance renewal servicing with new business opportunities, working with top brokers and clients from Fortune 500 and regional companies. The position sits at the intersection of underwriting strategy, portfolio management, and cross-functional collaboration across Distribution, Product, and Legal teams. You will influence profitability and growth within your territory while embracing a culture of innovation and inclusion.

Responsibilities
  • Underwrite and service an existing renewal book while pursuing new business opportunities
  • Lead and manage a team of underwriters and monitor portfolio performance
  • Execute regional underwriting strategies and oversee adherence to guidelines
  • Collaborate with Distribution, Business & Product Leaders, and other line of business underwriters to target desirable accounts and cross-sell from brokers
  • Develop and maintain strong broker/client relationships to grow the book of business
  • Identify and manage special underwriting projects and respond to training, systems, or guideline updates
  • Ensure superior customer service to brokers and clients and monitor profitability, penetration, and volume within the territory
  • Support development and execution of portfolio strategies and foster a collaborative, innovative, inclusive culture
Key requirements
  • Minimum 7+ years of Commercial Underwriting or Brokerage experience
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university
  • Advanced knowledge of US Cyber/E&O products, forms, regulatory environment and risks
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment with cross-functional collaboration
  • Proficiency with underwriting analytical tools and technology
  • Experience functioning effectively within a matrixed organizational structure
