Overview

In this role you lead the design, development, and integration of cockpit trim components for vehicles, ensuring performance and regulatory targets are met. You partner with cross-functional teams to drive robust, launch-ready products through APQP, PPAP, and lifecycle processes. The position focuses on achieving quality, reliability, and timely delivery for cockpit systems. This is an opportunity to shape interior trim solutions within a fast-paced automotive environment.

Responsibilities
  • Lead design, development, material selection and launch of cockpit system components (bins, trims, glove box, IP door panels)
  • Ensure packaging compatibility, interface alignment, and system level functionality
  • Manage product development, material selection, tooling reviews and launches from concept to launch
  • Conduct supplier and internal technical reviews to resolve packaging and design issues
  • Coordinate with Cockpit system for proper accommodation of trim components and hardware interfaces
  • Define and integrate critical characteristics with adjacent systems
  • Deliver products meeting quality and reliability targets with PPAP documentation
  • Lead design and component integration reviews at required milestones
  • Engage cross-functional teams (Accessories, Body, Restraints, Design, Manufacturing, Safety, NVH, Vehicle Evaluation) to deliver robust IP Trim Plastics to production
  • Validate cockpit systems through test setups and results reviews for internal and external testing
  • Support prototype builds, DV/PV and launch readiness
Key requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in automotive Cockpit System engineering
  • Experience in cockpit design and interior trim plastics, including injection molding
  • FMVSS/IIHS and other regulatory validation experience
  • PLM usage and releasing components with engineering changes
  • Regulatory knowledge across NHTSA/FMVSS, CARB, EPA, FCC or similar
  • Ability to lead teams and meetings with technical tradeoffs
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
