Overview In this role you will lead the Immuno-Chemistry / Molecular Virology lab to deliver high-quality, compliant operations. You will guide a technical team, manage safety, and optimize processes to support clinical testing at scale. You'll partner with cross-functional areas to uphold quality, efficiency, and data integrity. This is a hands-on leadership position with a strong focus on people development, budgeting, and regulatory compliance. You will shape lab operations and contribute to the organization's mission of reliable patient diagnostics.

Responsibilities- Plan, assign and direct laboratory work; liaise with other areas as needed
- Mentor and develop direct reports; implement supervisory training
- Define, coordinate and monitor quality assurance programs; supervise the Quality Coordinator/Representative
- Oversee staffing, hiring, training, and performance evaluations
- Manage test databases and ensure SOPs reflect current processes
- Coordinate R&D activities related to operations; participate in committees as needed
- Develop annual budget and manage department costs to meet budget
- Ensure EHS programs are followed; oversee safety inspections and regulatory compliance
- Prepare for inspections and manage related documentation
- Maintain safe, functional, and sanitary lab facilities and equipment
- Oversee test performance, drive process improvements and project management
- Handle client interactions and problem resolution
- Other duties as assigned
Key requirements- Minimum of eight (8) years laboratory experience with at least four (4) years direct supervisory experience in a clinical laboratory
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Detail-oriented with ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; maintains confidentiality
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Laboratory Information Systems
- Knowledge of CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA and laboratory safety requirements
- Ability to work in a demanding environment with physical requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or related field (Master's preferred)
- ASCP Certification preferred; CA Clinical Laboratory Scientist license required (CA only)
